New Forest Carbon Footprint Project; CHARLIE DIMMOCK JOINS THE PARTY
Saturday 22nd September, 12:00-4:00pm, Brockenhurst village hall, Highwood Road, Brockenhurst
Charlie Dimmock of Ground Force, will be joining in the fun at the Launch Party of the New Forest Carbon Footprint Project on Saturday 22nd September. The party begins at 12:00 and will finish at 4:00 pm.
Charlie Dimmock will be meeting and chatting with people and joining in with the activities. She will be presenting prizes and unveiling the community carbon footprint reduction totaliser at around 1:45 and 2:00pm.
The totaliser is a large display board in the shape of a footprint which will show how many households, children and young people in Brockenhurst have achieved the projects carbon reduction steps. It will be sited at different venues in the village throughout the project, for example, the village hall, college and churches. It was made for the project by the Technology students at Brockenhurst College.
There will be a range of informative and interesting stalls run by a variety of local groups and organizations providing information about the New Forest, the potential impact of climate change on the environment, wildlife and biodiversity and on the people living or working in or visiting the forest. Advice, information and ideas will also be available for householders, children and young people about how to reduce their CO2 emissions:

• World Wildlife Fund
• New Forest Friends of the Earth
• Priestlands school walled garden
• Allotment and gardeners

There will be a range of workshops for children:
• Juggling
• Poi
• Craft
• Drama, including a performance by local children that everyone can join in with
There will also be
• Face painting
• Parachute games
• Hedgehogs from Hampshire Hedgehog Rescue
Quizzes and competitions will be held for adults and children, including a competition for the best displays of vegetables and fruits of the forest and Charlie Dimmock will be handing out the prizes
Finally, there will be:
• Videos
• ‘Eco-warriors’ from Priestlands school showing people how to use a carbon calculator to work out their carbon footprint
• Refreshments served by ladies of Brockenhurst WI

The New Forest Carbon Footprint Project is an innovative community based project aimed at raising awareness about climate change and its potential impact on the New Forest.
The project is supported by a wide range of groups within the community and will enable Brockenhurst to take the lead in the New Forest, in responding to climate change.
The project if part-financed by the New Forest National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund and is being managed by New Forest Friends of the Earth.
