Try Orienteering, Saturday 8th September, Moors Valley Country Park

Join members of Wimborne Orienteering Club to learn map and compass skills and the sport of orienteering. Booking essential.

Time: 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Age: 8 years and over, all children accompanied
Cost: £1.00 per child, adults £2.00


Wood Fair Weekend, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September, Moors Valley Country Park

Our annual festival celebrating wood with demonstrations, stalls and activities will be even bigger this year covering both Saturday and Sunday. Have-a-go at tree climbing, join in with competitions, watch professional wood turners and large machinery in action. Follow the life of a tree from planting to product.

Time: between 11.00am and 4.00pm
Age: suitable for the whole family
Cost: car parking charges apply

Fraser Hooper and Matt Rudkin in Inside Out! – a new hilarious show for all the family


Saturday 20 October 2.30pm, Tickets £6, £5 (concessions and supporters), Ages 5 and up

Fraser Hooper has already delighted audiences at Forest Arts with his shows ‘Strawberry the Clown’ and ‘Funny Business’. This time – fit for half term – he comes to us with DOUBLE THE FUN!

 

Light Fantastic: Lantern Making, Forest Arts, Monday 22nd October


10am – 12pm, £15 , with Charlotte Moreton, suitable for 5-7 year olds

Charlotte is back at Forest Arts to teach you how to make beautiful autumn lanterns out of paper, wire and leaves. Bring the colours of the season inside so that at the end of the day you have a striking autumn lantern to light up your garden.

Mighty Manga Workshop, Forest Arts, Tuesday 23rd October


11am – 4pm, £22, with Paul Duffield, suitable for 9-12 year olds
Join the brilliant and dynamic artist Paul Duffield at Forest Arts for this workshop on the art of Japanese comic making. In this workshop you’ll work on story ideas, character design, page layout and story pacing and by the end of the day you’ll have created a 2 page manga all of your own.

Paul is the UK’s first ever prize winner of the ‘Rising Stars of Manga’ competition and overall winner in the 2006 International Manga and Anime Festival.


Into the Unknown: Craft & Dance Day, Forest Arts, Wednesday 24th October


10.30am – 3.30pm, £20, Group A: 5-6 year olds and Group B: 7-8 year olds with Rosemary Bailey and Claire Camble Hutchins

Short dance performance to family and friends at the end of the day.

Take a deep breath and rocket into the unknown with our space adventures craft and dance day. With Rosemary you’ll get to create your own spacey world, including anything from fiery rockets to glittering stars, alien creatures and robot destroyers. Then let Claire guide you through the outer atmospheres to dance to ‘Return of the Forbidden Planet’, ‘Starwars’ and more. The possibilities are endless!

Ceramic Witches & Spooky Things, Forest Arts, Thursday 25th October


11am-3pm, £20, with Anne-Marie Marshall, suitable for 5-7 year olds

Create wicked witches and other spooky characters out of ceramic with the ever popular Anne- Marie - to scare your friends with on All Hallow’s Eve.

Treasures of the Guyanese Rainforest Family workshop and performance, Forest Arts, Friday 26th October


Workshop 2-3pm, performance 3.15-4pm,  £10 per child which includes up to three additional places to come and watch the performance at 3.15pm, with Keith Waithe, Sandra A Agard and Jo Jo Yates, suitable for 3-10 year olds and their adults.

First you will take part in a music making and storytelling workshop with Keith, Sandra and Jo Jo - learning all about the treasures of the mighty Guyanese rainforest and the exotic sounds it makes. Then after the break your family and friends can join you to watch a superb story with music of this South American wonder - fly high above the trees with parrot, woodpecker and the birds of paradise.
