Our annual festival celebrating wood with demonstrations, stalls and activities will be even bigger this year covering both Saturday and Sunday. Have-a-go at tree climbing, join in with competitions, watch professional wood turners and large machinery in action. Follow the life of a tree from planting to product.

10am – 12pm, £15 , with Charlotte Moreton, suitable for 5-7 year oldsCharlotte is back at Forest Arts to teach you how to make beautiful autumn lanterns out of paper, wire and leaves. Bring the colours of the season inside so that at the end of the day you have a striking autumn lantern to light up your garden.
Mighty Manga Workshop, Forest Arts, Tuesday 23rd OctoberJoin the brilliant and dynamic artist Paul Duffield at Forest Arts for this workshop on the art of Japanese comic making. In this workshop you’ll work on story ideas, character design, page layout and story pacing and by the end of the day you’ll have created a 2 page manga all of your own. Paul is the UK’s first ever prize winner of the ‘Rising Stars of Manga’ competition and overall winner in the 2006 International Manga and Anime Festival. Treasures of the Guyanese Rainforest Family workshop and performance, Forest Arts, Friday 26th October
Workshop 2-3pm, performance 3.15-4pm, £10 per child which includes up to three additional places to come and watch the performance at 3.15pm, with Keith Waithe, Sandra A Agard and Jo Jo Yates, suitable for 3-10 year olds and their adults. First you will take part in a music making and storytelling workshop with Keith, Sandra and Jo Jo - learning all about the treasures of the mighty Guyanese rainforest and the exotic sounds it makes. Then after the break your family and friends can join you to watch a superb story with music of this South American wonder - fly high above the trees with parrot, woodpecker and the birds of paradise. |
